Say hello.

This is my super nifty itty bitty sealed sandwich maker. It makes four bite-sized sandwiches that are all sealed up like perfect tiny pockets of yumminess. I like to call them sandwich ravioli.
This is not a new gadget. I've been eyeing it online for years. A few things caused me to pause on purchasing it: I was doubtful it would really work, I was leary of how much bread it might waste, and the price was high (I recall it being $22 on jbox, back when they were the only bento retailer around). But recently it had caught my eye again, and lately I've been thinking about how handy it would be to have tiny sandwiches sometimes, and, and, and, I'm a sucker for cute lunch gear, let's just be honest. So I ordered it for $11.99. And crossed my fingers.
When it came I was shocked (astonished!!) by the size of it. It's big. Really big. (yes, that's what she said). Especially in the world of bento supplies, where everything is so little and petite, and usually surprisingly small. But this sucker is king-sized. Check it out next to a Lunch Punch -

But really, that's the only thing even semi-negative I have to say about it.
It's practically perfect otherwise.
My worries about whether it would really work were wiped away quickly - because it works splendidly! I have blasted through half a loaf of bread playing with it already. My freezer stash is in
Here's a quick run-down of how it works. It looks like a lot of steps, but they are quick and easy!

Step 1. place a slice of bread in the bottom section of the Mini Sandwich Maker.
Step 2. put the top piece of the Mini Sandwich Maker over the bottom piece and press gently.

Step 3. now you have outlined areas to add your sandwich filling.
Step 4. add sandwich fillings to the center of each outlined square.

Step 5. place another slice of bread on top.
Step 6. put the top piece of the Mini Sandwich Maker over the bottom and press (very!) firmly with all your might!

Step 7. Open the Mini Sandwich Maker.
Step 8. Lift the mini sandwiches out of the Mini Sandwich Maker, separate from the scraps.
Ooh and ahh at your adorable eensy weensy cutie pie mini sandwiches!

Congratulations, you've just made quadruplets!
Now it's time to tuck these babies in a lunchbox. :)

So cute! I think I have to get it too!
I am new to bento lunches, and have been trying a few things with cookie cutters etc. I always struggle with the leftover scraps of bread. What do you do with it? I have made breadcrumbs, but is there anything else that I can use them for? Thanks!
Meg, besides bread crumbs, I've saved up the scraps and made croutons. Bigger pieces of scraps I will use to make even smaller sandwiches with (little bite sized ones) that I add to my freezer stash of sandwiches. My last two batches of saved bread scrap I made a big pile of french toast with. What the kids didn't eat for breakfast that morning I put in the freezer to have on another morning. :)
