The final day of Kindergarten Color Days was Brown Day on Friday. And not just Brown Day, but it was also a Teddy Bear Picnic. Can Kindergarten get any cuter?
Because I was joining her at school for the picnic, I didn't start making her lunch until the three biggies were already gone on the bus. I had extra time to spend making her lunch, and I used it to go a little more overboard than usual.
In the big section she has two sealed teddy bear sandwiches. I made these using a cutter set meant for shaping rice. It worked pretty well, but I ran out of bread so the teddy bear on the top left side was used from the heal of the loaf, and heals don't work too great when it comes to sealing the edges. The face details on the sandwich are provolone cheese, cut with the cutters that are part of that set.
Also in the big section are two small pieces of cheddar cheese, cut with a mini bear cutter.
To the side are a few slices of cucumber, cut with a bear shaped cutter (I used this one). The faces are made with nori and a nori punch. Paige isn't a big fan of nori, but she tolerates small bits of it like this.
The other side sections hold Teddy Grahams crackers and blackberries, and the mini section in the middle holds chocolate covered sunflower kernels.
This bear themed bento is packed in our PlanetBox.
I don't think I'll ever have the time to do all this on a regular lunch that I have to prepare in the morning, but it was fun to do for this special event. :)
