That made me think of some other cute little Pipers I know. Piper was even on the very short list of girl names I had in mind when I was pregnant with my fourth baby!
So with that in mind, today's bento is full of cute little Pipers, including one blond bobbed-haired one (wearing a princess tiara no less!). :)
In this 11th day of Christmas bento lunch:
- turkey sandwich topped with 9 smiling Pipers
- veggie straws
- strawberries with 2 more Pipers
- a few chocolate cookies piped with icing ;-)
When it came to the "piping" part of the bento my mind kept turning to those iconic Hostess cupcakes and the curly-cue icing. I didn't want to go buy cupcakes for the bento, and while I've seen some amazing recipes and tutorials online for making homemade versions, they are way more labor intensive than I desired. I rummaged up a little pack of chocolate covered cookies and used some leftover cookie icing to pipe on some swirls. :) Yum.
The various Pipers in the box are decorated with bows and flowers of fruit leather and cheddar cheese. Princess Piper in the center sports a bobbed-hair do of cheddar cheese and her tiara is made using just the top piece of the Princess Lunch Punch

those are adorable pipers! how did you make them? Do you have a little people cheese punch or something? Not by hand, I hope. Also what's in with the sandwich?

The Piper heads are American Swiss cheese. The faces are cut using a nori type cutter... I'll try to find a link for them. I got mine on JList awhile back but they don't have them in stock now.

So cute!! Till I scrolled down and read about the icing piped on cookies I was thinking they were hostess cupcakes, and was trying to figure out if those were really huge strawberries/pipers, or somehow miniature cupcakes! :)

Hi! I was looking at the link you left for the cheese faces and it's no longer there. I was wondering if it's one of those expression face punches? If so did you just cut the cheese super thin? I can't find anything else that would make those faces.
