In her Laptop Lunches box she had:
- strawberries and orange slices
-
- plain yogurt
- Earth's Best organic blueberry mini-waffles
- homemade blueberry syrup
Paige ended up wanting the blueberry syrup stirred into her yogurt and dipped her waffles in the yogurt. Interesting. ;-)
The yogurt spot has two small pieces of barran covering the yogurt to help contain any mess while transporting, but since *I* was the one carrying the Laptop Lunches, we didn't really have to worry about any tipping. ;-) The yogurt was really thick to begin with and didn't make any mess at all.
The Earth's Best mini-waffles (both blueberry and plain) are a family favorite. They are delicious and so easy! I used my free Earth's Best product coupon to "buy" our box - and you can do the same! Check out the giveaway going on now full of all sorts of yummy foods to get your own!! :)

wow hehe! I packed Breakfast for lunch in Hubby's bento today too! Silver dollar blueberry pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. I'm out of normal bento friendly fruit cause the move is in 4 days and I'm scared to buy too much squishable food to just have to move it. :/
what a wonderful combination.
Love your lunch suggestions and those boxes are amazing.
Visiting via Design Mom
You are just fabulous! I saw your 'designs' on design mom's website and I just fell in love. I had been at loss what to include and how to organize my daughter's first lunch box.... and you gave me the answer. I can't thank you enough! xxx
Would it be okay if I use your pics on my blog (of course I’ll link back to you). I think a lot of moms will benefit from your creativity and ‘design’. :)
Miss Melissa, is barran disposable or reusable or is there some of both?
And, I love your blog! You have helped me get out of a lunchbox rut that I didn't even realize I was in. I am full of many ideas now for my little one's lunch. She's excited about lunch again too!
I am so inspired! I came over from "design mom" and I'm in love! I will be linking to you on my Friday Favorites this week. abby
Design mom!?!? You're such a rock star! That's great!!! xoxo
Hello, everyone! Thanks for coming by! :)
Rebecca, the barran is a thick plastic and is washable and reusable. This particular kind is considered disposable, but you can get a lot of uses out of it before it really needs to be trashed. My more favored barran is silicone, so that's reusable forever - it's not available in as many cute varieties though. :)
Subway Mom & Abby - please feel free to link away and share the blog! The more, the merrier! :)
Mariah, love you. <3
I am in looooooooooooove with this site, the lunches. I'm so ready to gear up and just stalk you online. ;-)
So where do you buy all your adorable food picks? Cute shape cutters, etc... all the accessories, etc...
This is exactly what I've been looking for as I pack lunches every day.
THANK YOU!
Delicious. Waffles and fruit are favorites of my kids. It's such a balanced meal. Thanks for posting!
This might be a silly question...do you worry about foods staying warm that taste best warm? Such as the waffles? Do they get mushy by the time your daughter gets to eat them? I worry my kids won't like the way things taste by the time they open their lunch boxes. Thanks and I am LOVING this website so much!!!
Only 1 more week from today until I start packing Mya fun lunches for school! We go back so late here!!
Saw you on Design Mom and I LOVE your site!! thank you so much for all the info about bentos. I have been trying to decide on what to get and your site is such a great resource.
Thanks for the coupon code! It saved me $5 on my order. I'm buying this for a wedding gift for my sister. She was so excited when she told me about the laptop lunches.
Hi,
I really love all your creative ideas, they are incredible!! My only concern for buying something like this is I feel they are not big enough for my bigger kids (6 and 10). They have full days at school and require a lot more food/snacks than I see room for in the bento boxes. I usually send them a lunch, 2 regular snacks (in a bag like pirate booty or chips), a string cheese, a fruit and a vegetable. What kind of box would you recommend for that? I would love to start creating these fun lunches I'm just not sure the containers are big enough. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much, you are so inspiring!!
Hi there! Bento boxes are available in a lot of different sizes. I can understand how some of the smaller ones may not hold enough for a big kid's meal, it really depends on the foods - things like Pirate Booty take up a lot of space, while some baked chicken is more compact! Are you looking to put the snacks and the lunch in the same container? That would be tricky.
I pack snacks seperately from the lunch bento.
Laptop Lunches are a pretty generous size to me, as are EasyLunchboxes. Those are what I use for my OWN lunches.
I can get a full sandwich, carrots, some fruit, nuts or other side - all in one box. That's usually enough for a full lunch and a snack for me.
The newer Laptop Lunches have an optional inner box set called Bento Buddies (see here: http://amzn.to/twhWtK )
Those containers would let you have one big space, large enough for a sandwich (with some space to spare), plus two side sections.
