Christmas M&M's. Mmmmmm. I don't know about you, but for ME nothing says "it's Christmas time! The most magical time of the year!" more than seeing those first bags of Christmas M&M's hit the store shelves. My heart rate quickens when I spy my first bag of mint M&M's. Mint M&M's are only available at Christmas time and they are my favorite and my best. Mint M&M's sing to me like Sirens.
My minty chocolatey discovery inspired me to make this Christmas in July themed bento. :)

Packed in a bento box as rosy as Santa's cheeks is a green dish of strawberries and grapes, a Christmas tree sandwich (decorated with cheese star and sprinkles), some SunChips, the tiny green cup in the corner holds sunflower kernels and the pièce de résistance: heart-shaped mini cup lovingly cradling the beloved Christmas colored mint M&M's.
The inner green dish/container is an insert from a Laptop Lunches system. (pssst! You can save 10% on your purchase at LaptopLunches.com by using the coupon code "anotherlunch". !!!)
I hope these last weeks of summer (we go back to school in two weeks!) are leaving you feeling merry and bright. :)

LOVE this. Oh how I long for cold weather...
In New Zealand Christmas in July makes sense because it's cold. I just can't wrap my head around it up here in the northern hemisphere. It was fun to hear your super-excitement over the mint M&M's. I don't think I've ever had me a one! Now I'll be looking for them in stores, too :)
So festive!!! I love these!!
Super cute! I am always inspired by your blog. I actually asked for Bento stuff on my Muffin Tin Monday "wish list" for this swap. I can't wait to make my first Bento lunch for my daughter! I feel a new obsession coming on. :)
How adorable. My son loves christmas trees and has a small one in his room for his night light. I never thought to do a christmas tree theme lunch. This is too cute!
Okay, so where do you get the small heart shaped container and the the other small green one with a lid? I've been trying to find some tiny containers for treats, dips, sauces, etc. Been using the silicone muffin pans but need something smaller. Also, can't seem to find the wide fruit leather. Did get some Target brand (Archer Farms) pressed fruit that comes in a roll and looks like ribbon, but it isn't very wide and is very thin and hard to work with the fondant cutters. Suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Marcey! I'm sorry for my delay in responding to your questions!!
The small heart and little green lidded one are from bento shops. The green heart one is from a set of 4 shaped cups that I think I ordered from JList. The lidded one, too (also came as a set of 4), for a few dollars.
The fruit leather I use is not in ribbon rolls - it's in a flat piece about 4.5" long and 1.5" wide and a nice thickness. They come in a smallish box, ten strips to a box. Each box is a different flavor (no variety packs that I've ever seen). They are usually $2.99 a box, but frequently on sale for $2. At the Super Target I shop at they are stocked next to the granola bars. I hope you can find the ones I'm describing - they are really nice and easy to work with!
