Noah's Ark bento lunch

When I opened my drawer of cutters and shapers this morning this Noah set was beckoning me to use it.  Considering the flooding that has occurred in my beautiful state this past weekend, it was an obvious choice.
Noah's Ark L&L

Packed in a four-square Lock & Lock box, clockwise from top left, my son has: pickles, a cereal bar and homemade granola bite (baked in a mini silicone cup), wheat crackers with cheddar cheese pieces (cut with Noah's ark themed mini-cutters), and raspberries.

So...as you may or may not be aware, the South was blasted by huge storms this past weekend. Over 18 inches of rain fell in two days which resulted in epic flooding.  Many of Nashville's historic and iconic buildings and landmarks are destroyed, there have been drownings of over 20 people (and more are missing), thousands of homes, businesses and vehicles submerged.  Please keep Tennessee in your thoughts and prayers!

My brother in Knoxville didn't mention the storms. So glad you're OK Melissa! The flood inspired bento - genius. I need to let my kids make use our cookie cutters on their lunches. Totally inpsired.

I was just looking at photos of the flooding on The Big Picture blog. Absolutely horrifying!

The people of Tennessee have been in my thoughts these past few days. My hometown, Cedar Rapids, IA (where my parents still live) flooded two summers ago so I have an idea what your state is going through. Even if you are not directly affected, it is extremely difficult to watch the flood waters destroy your home. The cities affected by the Iowa floods have only partially recovered and they still have years of work ahead of them. I am so sorry to hear about this disaster in your state.

And just to be sure -- your home and family are OK, right?

do u have a recipe for the granola bites?

hello mochadoo! For the granola bites I simply used a standard granola recipe and rather than press into a baking pan I pressed smaller portions into mini-baking cups. I'm currently working on a granola bar recipe and if it works out I'll post it very soon!
