over the rainbow bento

Soooomewherrrre, overrrr the rainbow, way up high.... there's a land that I've heard of....

Happy St. Patrick's Day eve! :)

Today my 8-year-old son is getting a rainbow of a bento box.
taste the rainbow bento

Strawberries for red, cheddar cheddar cheese shamrocks for orange, Wheat Thin crackers in a yellow silicone cup, pickles for green, and the blue dish holds purple grapes.  And of course everyone hopes to find a little gold at the end of the rainbow, so there are a couple gold-wrapped chocolate coins tucked in the bottom! :)

My shamrocks are a little wonky, I admit. I only had a club shaped mini cutter, so I improvised with that by cutting off the wide stem into a more shamrock-like stem. :)

Everything is packed in one of those superific Sassy boxes using Sassy inner dishes (other than the yellow silicone cup!).

You have got to come over to my blog and check out my son's lunch for tomorrow. I was inspired by your post for a rainbow.:) mylovehatewithpackinglunches@blogspot.com

frosty, your Laptop Lunch is great!
I hope your son is as thrilled with his rainbow as mine was! :)

I tried posting a comment on your blog, but the comment form kept getting cut off half-way through the word verification thing and I couldn't get it to go through!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

This is SO cute! But I have to ask - pickles! I LOVE pickles and always have but every time my mom packed them in my lunch (when I was a kid, lol) the juice went everywhere! I saw that you put them in a separate compartment from the crackers, but what about the grapes? Do you ever have complaints of pickle juice traveling?

You know, lissieanne, my kids have never complained about picke juice on other things... they are so pickle crazy they probably would enjoy a little cross-contamination. LOL Of course, I try to keep them separate as best I can and wouldn't put them close to something that could get soggy easily.
