Lock & Lock bento (yes, another one!)

Good morning, Monday.
No coffee Monday.
Got-to-go-grocery-shopping Monday.
Wish I was still asleep Monday.
Sigh.

The 8 year-old's lunch:
4squareL&L

Clockwise from top left: strawberries with mini-fork, Cheez-It crackers, granola bar and pretzels, baby carrots with ranch to dip them in the small container.

Easy peasy.

Where do you find a little container like that? (for the dip)
Thanks!

Hi Amy! That little dip container is "authentic" bento gear - I ordered it from a store called Ichiban Kan. They have actual stores in Northern CA and they used to have an online store (that I ordered from several times)...unfortunately, that online store closed. They come 4 in a set for $1.50, such a steal! You CAN find them on ebay, search for "bento mayo cup" and there should be a lot that pop up.
Some other options that may be easier to find... Tupperware makes some tiny lidded containers, the Laptop Lunches box comes with a small lidded container, and even the disposable plastic cups (like Silo brand) that you get with take-out can be washed and used in bento boxes. Those are what I used when I first got started bentoing, before IchibanKan opened!

Hi there! That box is made by Lock & Lock and it comes with the four inner square dishes. Here's a link:

hi,
are these easy to open? I'm thinking about getting this for my rising Kindergartner.

thanks
Jana

Hi Guattuxedo! Yep, Lock & Locks are really easy to open. My younger two could manage them independently from the age of two on. :)

do you have any recommendations for the box that you use? The link you gave isn't working on Amazon any longer and I can't seem to find another that would be similar in size.

Megan, unfortunately Lock & Lock has discontinued that particular box. :( So sad. There is a similar one they've introduced to replace it. You can see it here - http://bit.ly/O7j2Oo But it is currently out of stock. I suspect they will get more in after the Back-to-school rush is over, but I'm not certain.

I'm sorry. It's such a great box. So unfortunate they aren't making it any longer.
